About me

Hello my name is Rolain, I am currently based in the city of Edinburgh.

My life experiences and the emotionally struggles I have coped with, have given me a rich body of knowledge, while acknowledging the impact of processing personal issues, such as depression, dissociation, trauma, anxiety, and bereavement to name a few. Both the receiving and the giving of therapy has helped my personal development, as well as the academic training stated on this site.

In my practice, I feel I have a natural sense for several therapy methods, such as self-compassion, grounding, art & creative writing but especially the person-centred approach, all of which help to support the process of change or acceptance.

Identifying that clients can have different requirements when it comes to receiving therapy, I am more than happy to offer short or long-term, face to face sessions. I am comfortable working via Skype and have found this method to be very effective

I am willing to work with my clients in a flexible way, in either short or long term face-to-face therapy. I would be comfortable with working via Skype, as this is a process I have used effectively with clients in the past. If you are unable to travel I may be able to do a home visit, this would have to be explored and negotiated.

Below are examples of issues that I have worked with in the past, the list is not exhaustive, so if you are dealing with an issue that does not appear on this list, please still get in touch:

  • Abuse
  • Anger Management
  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Depression
  • Dissociation
  • Emotional Abuse
  • Low Self-Confidence
  • Low Self-Esteem

Member organisations

Accredited register membership

  • Face-to-face Therapy £40 per hour

  • Home visits £50 per hour

  • For Internet Therapy via Skype £40 per hour

I believe Counselling should be accessible and not just for those who can afford it. Therefore, I offer a sliding scale to low earners and students, fees can be negotiated before meeting or in the first session.

Cancellation for face-to-face clients will need to be done 48 hours before the appointment to not incur a fee for the therapy session. Internet cancellation only needs to be 12 hours before the appointment. In some circumstances this can be discussed and possibly wavered.

Further information

In laymen's terms, counselling (or psychotherapy) is an opportunity to explore issues in your life, whether they be from the past or the present moment. The process will offer a chance for you to be truly heard and understood. This may help you to obtain greater knowledge and better awareness of yourself and the environment you live in. It may change the way you see things, which, in turn, could help you change the relationship you have with the issues you bring. Changing your view will help you to explore solutions to those issues, and it will help you to learn strategies to better cope with the issues you may be facing.
