The Old Rectory Clinic
Hello, I am Rob Kerley a qualified counsellor and hypnotherapist. I am a member of the National Counselling Society and National Hypnotherapy Society. I offer a number of different person centred therapies using different counselling methods. I aim to work with each client to develop an individual therapy plan.
What is Counselling?
Counselling allows people to discuss their problems and any difficult feelings they encounter in a safe, confidential environment. The term can mean different things to different people, but in general it is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth.
Some of the more common problems I have successfully helped clients with are listed below (this list is by no means exhaustive) -
- generalised anxiety disorder
- relationship issues
- panic disorder
- feeling sad
- family issues
- affairs and betrayals
- separation and divorce
- bipolar disorder / manic depression
- seasonal affective disorder (sad)
- post natal depression
I also specialise in couples counselling.
Why choose me?
There is no doubt there are many experienced, knowledgeable counsellors working effectively with clients. I am passionate about counselling and have seen the incredible difference it can make to people’s lives as it has done mine.
As a counsellor I am not there to judge, or to sit you down and tell you what to do – instead I will encourage you to talk about what’s troubling you in order to uncover any root causes and identify your specific ways of thinking. I then work with you to create a plan of action to either help you reconcile your issues or help you to develop coping strategies. This will help you manage difficult situations and feelings more effectively.
Making the decision to seek counselling can be difficult for people as they may be a little fearful of what to them is an unknown. It takes courage to take the first step but the reward can be life changing and I would very much like to work with you and to help you achieve your goals.
I offer a safe and confidential setting with a warm and relaxed approach. This is also on a ‘risk free’ basis – if after our initial consultation you don’t feel I am the right counsellor for you I will refund my fee and you are not tied to any more sessions with me.

Testimonials from clients -
“I plucked up the courage to call Rob and as soon as I heard his wonderful calm voice I knew I had made the right decision.” GC
“Rob is extremely gifted at what he does. He has a very rare skill of getting to the heart of the issues that put distance between couples whilst still remaining impartial. I’m sure other counsellors would do that but there is a warmth to his counselling that makes you feel so at ease.” KN
“Rob has been a great help to me, with clear goals, non-judgemental, supportive, client-centred counselling. He offers the chance to unwind and offload, discover for yourself a way forward and deal with the problems that currently overwhelm you.” HD
“When I first met Rob I was suffering emotionally and spiritually. I was possibly at one of the lowest points in my life. Over the course of about 7 months Rob helped me understand myself, address the key issues and regain control. I now feel an internal peace I hadn’t felt for many years.” TM
"Many thanks Rob. I had never sought professional help before, so that first contact was a real leap of faith. The fact that I could speak openly with you about heartfelt issues is testament to the trust I have in you, and I am so glad that I plucked up the courage to take that first vital step." HM
