Robert Stewart (BSc Hons, MSc Cbt, PGDip Occ Psych, Cert Couns)
Due to unprecedented times, I am offering online sessions only. However, this affords the opportunity for a global reach and flexibility in session availability. If you need help navigating these strange, uncertain times then please get in touch.
I am an experienced psychotherapist and business psychologist, having worked in both the NHS and privately. I work with people facing all number of issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues and work stress.
You'll find details below of my qualifications and experience, but the best way to decide whether some therapy or coaching may be useful is to get in touch and arrange an initial session. You can decide from there whether you think it is right for you.
- I run my private practice in London and online.
- Work with adolescents and adults.
- I deliver Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) alongside other modalities.
- Accredited through the BABCP.
- Previously a Senior University lecturer in CBT.
- I offer a free initial consultation to discuss whether you feel treatment is right for you.
Any questions or queries, please feel free to get in touch. If you are not happy or not sure, there is no obligation to take treatment forward any further.
A bit about me: I'm a very relaxed individual and try not to take myself too seriously. Alongside my passion for psychology, I love to play sports, ski and socialise.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology (BSc (Hons) Psych), a Certificate in Counselling Skills (Couns Cert), a Masters degree in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MSc CBT), a Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Psychology and trained in EMDR.
I have extensive experience working within mental health in various settings, both inpatient and outpatient. My previous experience has included severe and enduring mental health problems, such as Personality Disorders and Eating Disorders and I have provided both individual and group treatments. I have experience of working with adolescents, adults and older adults, and I have incorporated family elements into my work.
Alongside a CBT approach to my work, I incorporate a person centred approach and use elements of Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
As well as a Masters degree in CBT, I have undergone considerable training throughout my career and continue to update and improve my practice through regular supervision and continuing professional development (CPD) events. I have also undergone my own personal therapy, which I feel allows me to understand the perspective of my clients more.
