Robert Mawditt MBACP (Accred)
I am an accredited counsellor and a supervisor, having worked in counselling for many of the last 30 years, since my first training in 1983. I work with couples and individuals, including relationship, depression, anger and bereavement.
My counselling is shaped by the Person-Centred approach. I believe that each person has within them the answers to their own difficulties; however they can get stuck, and in counselling I offer a listening ear and space to work through the stuck feelings and experiences. I offer you place and time to hear yourself and identify new ways of being and doing.
I work with adults, teenagers and children (play therapy). Play therapy is also on offer for adults. I offer short-term and long-term counselling.
I work within the ethical framework of BACP, and I am registered under the Disclosure Scotland PVG scheme (Protection of Vulnerable Groups).
Training, qualifications & experience
Most recently I have taken the Diploma in Person-centred counselling from Strathclyde University and I am training in Emotion Focused Therapy (level 3). My training has included courses and group work in person-centred, gestalt and psychodynamic disciplines. (Gestalt and group work through Journey into Healing and Psychodynamic through Bridge Pastoral Foundation, with whom I have also been a course tutor.)
My academic qualifications include M. Litt (Glasgow University), B. A. (Bristol University) and Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling (Strathclyde University).
I am an accredited member of BACP.
