Robert Cunliffe BA (Hons), MBACP (Accred)
My name is Robert Cunliffe and I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor with 6½ years and 700 hours counselling experience. I am also someone with many very varied life experiences, including being a university lecturer, a prison teacher, a writer, a musician and the father and carer of a child with autism and severe learning difficulties.
I firmly believe in the benefits of counselling and the positive impacts it can have on people's lives. I also believe counselling should be more accessible, provided at rates which are more affordable. That is why I offer counselling at a flat rate of £30 per hour (£25 per hour for students, carers and people receiving benefits). More people should be able to access therapy to alleviate distress and turn their lives around.
My particular areas of expertise are addictions, anger, loss and bereavement, PTSD, anxiety, depression, long-term and enduring mental health issues, living with disability and problems associated with being a full-time carer.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully trained person-centred counsellor and an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I was awarded an ABC Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in January 2015.
I became a registered member of the BACP in April 2016.
I became a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist in October 2019.
I have worked in a number of different settings for different services, including the Liverpool Bereavement Service, Addaction and Action on Addiction, working in groups and with individual clients. I have worked in private practice since March 2015.
I am a graduate in Modern Languages at Manchester University, graduating in 1989.
