I have been working within the field of mental health since 2004 and have varied experience with children, adolescents and adults. I am used to working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and have worked within the NHS, statutory organisations, the corporate world and the voluntary sector.
I use a range of approaches to suit the needs of my clients, including person centred counselling, psychodynamic counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and EMDR. People from all walks of life may seek counselling for a range of reasons as it offers a safe, confidential and neutral space for people to explore their lives and the options that are available to them.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Counselling Psychologist and completed my Doctorate from City University in 2008. I am Chartered with the British Psychological Society and am a Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professionals Council.
In addition to offering counselling and coaching, I am an experienced clinical supervisor and have supervised both qualified clinical professionals and practitioners in training.
I have also delivered mental Heath awareness training in the health and education sectors for over 13 years.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
Health and Care Professions Council
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
