Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol, DPsych)

About me

As a Counselling Psychologist, I believe that every client is unique and that treatment needs to reflect this. This ethos is exhibited in my integrative approach to therapy. As an integrative practitioner, I do not subscribe to any one particular method, dogma or manual of techniques, but instead draw upon different approaches – especially existential, second/third wave-CBT, and psychodynamic therapy.

My style of working is flexible, practical and relational that is geared towards helping you make the most out of therapy, at a pace that works best for you. Using a collaborative approach, we will gradually explore and understand the source of your difficulties in a safe, confidential, and empowering space.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a chartered counselling psychologist registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) and BPS (British Psychological Society). I hold a Doctorate inn Counselling Psychology, a Msc in Health Psychology, a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Counselling Skills.

I have extensive clinical experience in the field of psychology and has developed a comprehensive knowledge of psychological models. My clinical experience is derived from a variety of mental health settings including the NHS, secondary care and charity sector.

I have had much success in providing support and implementing effective treatment plans for diverse clients with various mental health difficulties.

Much of this work focused on trauma, bereavement, anxiety, relationships, depression, sexuality, existential issues, fertility/parenting, loneliness, “midlife crisis” (at any age), relocation and adjustments, domestic abuse, family violence and abuse, self-esteem, living with chronic illness, and work/careers.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
