About me
Hello, I’m Richard. I'm a registered counsellor, trained and experienced to help with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, loss, career troubles, and relationship problems, abuse, loneliness, ADHD, anger and more.
With over 6 years of experience in NHS Primary Care and mental health services, I have provided Step 3 counselling interventions within NHS IAPT services. Recently, I have focused on improving access to psychological therapies for underrepresented communities.
I have a special interest in men's mental health. I understand the challenges men face in expressing complex emotions and the frustration that can arise from feeling misunderstood. My experience allows me to offer tools to empower men to regain confidence and voice their struggles in a non-judgmental environment.
I am Chester based and offer face to face counselling sessions in a private clinic, online or via the telephone - to adults of all ages that need help and support with a range of mental health concerns.
I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for you to explore whatever is troubling you. I am here to support you.
I offer a Person-Centred counselling approach to help you:
- Feel understood and less alone.
- Process difficult emotions, experiences, or trauma.
- Feel safe and grounded.
- Gain relief from complex emotions.
- Understand yourself better.
- Explore your needs.
- Trust your instincts.
- Become more empowered, resilient, and confident.
- Find the right solutions for you.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Review 1. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“ Richard provided me with a safe and supportive approach to processing my emotions from the fallout of a bad relationship, I felt supported and was given the space to explore what I needed to, I also found it extremely helpful breaking down the stigma around men sharing their emotions, been able to speak to another male really helped me” T, 46.
