About me
I am a BACP-registered (MBACP) integrative counsellor from London but seeing clients exclusively online in 'Richy's Counselling Practice' to accommodate my full-time counselling role. I work with individuals seeking support in navigating life’s challenges.
My approach is empathetic, non-judgmental, and tailored to each individual. I aim to provide a safe space for you to reflect on where you are in life, explore how you got there, and identify where you want to go next. Drawing from Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Existential, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches, I use methods that best suit your unique needs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed a BACP-accredited Counselling BSc (Hons) degree at UEL that included the clinical, supervised hours requirement to become BACP registered. In addition to this, I have taken further short courses on addiction counselling, Schema therapy and Solution Focussed Counselling.
I gained a lot of experience supporting adults with a variety of issues in my three different placements.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

How I Work
I offer therapy sessions exclusively online via Google Meet. This format allows for convenient, flexible access to therapy, with no geographical limitations. I prioritize confidentiality and ensure that all sessions take place in a secure, private setting.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long and can be scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
Your First Session
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, and I understand that. To help you feel comfortable, I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation. This is a chance for us to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and for you to ask any questions you may have. Consultations are usually done by phone but can also take place via Google Meet if you prefer.
