Ria Davies (MBACP) Counsellor and Supervisor
Working as a qualified and experienced counsellor I offer you a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings. My aim is to help you feel empowered and to reach a level of self-awareness so that you can make positive changes to move forward.
I believe the relationship between the client and counsellor is paramount and I will be there to sit with you through your journey. I do not give advice but work with you to facilitate change.
My style of counselling is integrative and I believe that a lot of issues that have surfaced in adulthood are rooted in childhood. Exploring these areas can be liberating for clients.
My style is integrative and I work with aspects of these approaches.
- Psychodynamic (exploring past experiences and childhood)
- CBT (changing negative thought patterns into positives)
- Humanistic (person centred, individual needs)
I have worked with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, addiction, bereavement, relationship difficulties and work issues. Counselling can provide clarity around our thoughts and feelings. It can help us to change unhelpful patterns and experience more satisfying lives.
Counselling is the opportunity to talk to a trained professional about worries and concerns that might be more difficult to confide in friends and family.
The process may at times bring up some uncomfortable feelings and memories but I will sit with you to work through this one step at a time.
Every journey begins with a single step.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
