Rebekah Heather Couns Dip MBACP
My name is Rebekah and I am a Humanistic/Person Centred therapeutic counsellor. I trained at Guildford and Nescot colleges so I was able to cover all aspects of counselling from humanistic, psychodynamic and CBT finding myself drawn to the person centred approach as I believe strongly in client led therapy enabling the client to feel empowered in their sessions.
I work with some aspects of existentialism too, an approach which "emphasises the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will." Freedom of will, choices, choices within our remit, control of our own lives and emotions. Sometimes we can feel stuck, trapped or unable to control our lives, feelings and emotions. A person centred approach looks to help the client find who they are and help them re-focus on how they would like their life to be, it uses an unconditional non judgemental approach to each individual.
I work from my practice at home, it is comfortable, private and safe place. I would invite you to try an initial 30 minute appointment to chat about what may be concerning you and to see how you feel about me as a therapist.
Affective therapy relies on the successful bonding and trusting relationship between counsellor and client, its really important you find the right therapist for you.
I have experience working with domestic abuse, young people, depresssion, self esteem, anxiety, PTSD and confidence issues.
