About me

Stepping Stones Counselling and Psychotherapy Limited is an established business since 2017, providing counselling, psychotherapy, EMDR, REWIND, Mindfulness, EFT, ACT, Play Therapy, Creative Therapies, hypnotherapy and CBT across the South East, for clients experiencing a wide variety of presentations as well as across the world for online clients.

Stepping Stones was founded by Rebekah, who is a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, Trauma Therapist and Certified EMDR Therapist. From additional systemic and trauma training, Rebekah also offers couples counselling.

Rebekah has over 29 years of professional experience in working with people experiencing mental health difficulties within the NHS, supporting people from a wide variety of contexts and with a mix of different issues. Since retraining as a therapist, Rebekah has particularly specialised in working with those who have experienced a range of life traumas and mental health challenges, including 999 personnel. Rebekah offers EMDR therapy, which can be used to reprocess trauma, phobic reaction and a variety of mental health issues with very good effect.

Rebekah has experience of working with students to university level and is a qualified tutor/lecturer, now acting as an Honorary Fellow at UCL for Junior Doctors. and Visiting Lecturer at University of Roehampton on their MA Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy qualification as well as a Research Supervisor for the MA CYP Psychotherapy award. She offers reduced fee sessions for trainee counsellors, as well as reduced fee supervision for trainee counsellors.

Rebekah is joined by a growing number of qualified therapists, who together offer a range of specialities including couples/families work, CBT, DBT, ACT, CPT, creative therapies, hypnotherapy, specialist therapy for working with those who have addictions, solution focused therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, REWIND and EMDR. We additionally work with children and young people using play therapy, systemic therapy and CBT.

Face to face sessions are held in Worthing and Hassocks and we continue to work successfully online across all of our therapies. Online therapy includes email, IM and webcam sessions which are all provided via secure, encrypted platforms.

Stepping Stones therapists generally work in a '12 session model' but all decisions surrounding duration of sessions will be agreed in the assessment session, with both short and long term therapy being possible. Sessions last for 50 minutes and are payable by card at the time of the session.

Our approach to therapy enables each client, as an individual, to process and work through thoughts, patterns of behaviour and life challenges, as well as meet times of crisis with a reflective mind.

Our work with people is focused upon enabling them to develop and improve their quality of life, and explore any problems and difficulties, whatever they may be caused by.

Life's stress can derive from a wide variety of sources including relationship difficulties, work pressures, family histories and dynamics, as well as social anxieties, self-esteem and image issues and other mental health difficulties. Human experience also often involves trauma and bereavement, which, when unexplored, can lead to noticeable relational difficulties in all manners of life, not just with those we are closest to.
