About me

Stepping Stones Counselling and Psychotherapy is an established business since 2017, providing counselling, psychotherapy, EMDR, Mindfulness, hypnotherapy and CBT across the South East, for clients experiencing a wide variety of presentations.

Stepping Stones was founded by Rebekah, who is a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, Certified EMDR Therapist, ACTO Approved Online Psychotherapist, who additionally offers Mindful Meditation as a Mindfulness Instructor. Mindfulness is being used more widely as this method of support at times of emotional stress becomes more well understood and accepted within societies and cultures. From additional systemic and trauma training, Rebekah also offers couples counselling and specialised trauma therapy. Online therapy includes email, IM and webcam sessions which are all provided via secure, encrypted platforms.

Rebekah has over 27 years of professional experience in working with people experiencing mental health difficulties within the NHS, supporting  people from a wide variety of contexts and with a mix of different issues. Since retraining as a therapist, Rebekah has particularly specialised in working with emergency service personnel, as well as those who have experienced a range of life traumas and mental health challenges. Rebekah offers EMDR therapy, which can be used to reprocess trauma, phobic reaction and a variety of mental health issues with very good effect.

Rebekah has experience of working with students to university level and is a qualified teacher. She offers reduced fee sessions for trainee counsellors. Rebekah teaches on Level 2 and Level 3 Counselling Skills courses for an organisation in Sussex, and additionally offers training around well-being and mental health for a variety of organisations and businesses throughout the UK, including in EMDR.

Rebekah is joined by a number of qualified therapists, who together offer a range of specialities including couples/families work, CBT, Hypnotherapy, specialist therapy for working with those who have addictions, Trauma Focused Therapy and solution focused therapy.

Face to face sessions are held in Worthing, Brighton and Haywards Heath, West Sussex. Rebekah has an additional clinic in Central London.

Stepping Stones therapists generally work in a '12 session model' but all decisions surrounding duration of sessions will be agreed in the assessment session, with both short and long term therapy being possible. Sessions last for 50 minutes and are payable at the time of the session.

Our approach to therapy enables each client, as an individual, to process and work through thoughts, patterns of behaviour and life challenges, as well as meet times of crisis with a reflective mind.

Our work with people is focused upon enabling them to develop and improve their quality of life, and explore any problems and difficulties, whatever they may be caused by.

Life's stress can derive from a wide variety of sources including relationship difficulties, work pressures, family histories and dynamics, as well as social anxieties, self-esteem and image issues and other mental health difficulties. Human experience also often involves trauma and bereavement, which, when unexplored, can lead to noticeable relational difficulties in all manners of life, not just with those we are closest to.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
