About me
My Counselling Experience:
I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist, working integratively, which means I combine person-centred counselling with CBT and also psychodynamic theory, depending on the needs of my client
I have worked with individuals over several years, counselling people from a diverse range of circumstances and with varying difficulties. These might be relationship issues, domestic abuse issues, family problems, esteem issues, in fact any matter that is causing a person to feel that their mental health has been affected and that it is preventing them from living a fulfilling and happy life.
The Counselling Process:
Talking with a counsellor is a process that can take weeks or sometimes much longer. My work is client-led, meaning that I tailor my sessions to the needs of my client, and help them to reach their own conclusions and solutions. Talking therapy with a person who is non-judgemental and separate from the person's circle of people in their life, can be a helpful and cathartic experience, and can often assist a person to see their issues in a new light. Together we can work together to help you find solutions and strategies to move forward.
I have worked for many years for the airline industry and have a broad knowledge of work-related issues. Consequently I am in a good position to help with work-related difficulties and offer life and work-coaching if this is what you need. I am also a parent to two adult boys. You will find me to be empathic and considerate to your needs, and an open and easy to talk to person.
My approach is non-judgemental and our work takes place in a safe and confidential environment.
What To Expect in Your First Session:
We will talk through the contract which explains how the sessions are conducted and about confidentiality. We will then have an initial discussion about what has brought you to counselling, and what you hope to get from the sessions. We may also discuss whether you need short-term or longer-term therapy.
Discounts for Clients
I offer discounted therapy for counselling students.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
