I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and I can help young people and adults looking to improve their well-being, reduce distress and assist those looking to make changes in their life. I offer both short and longer term psychological therapy.
I have a number of years experience working across both NHS and private settings and am skilled in providing psychological assessment, formulation and therapy to people wanting to resolve issues with the following:
Anxiety and worry
Low mood and depression
Post traumatic stress
Loss, bereavement and divorce
Low self-esteem and body image issues.
Struggling to live or adjust to life with a chronic illness (e.g. cancer, epilepsy, etc) and the impact this illness may be having on your identity, relationships and wellbeing.
I consider my specialist areas to be working with anxiety disorders, specifically OCD as I undertook my doctoral research project in this area, and working with people struggling to live with a chronic illness as this is my current NHS role. I am passionate about helping people reflect on the challenges they face and help support them to find ways of living a fulfilling and meaningful life in a warm and empathic manner.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked with clients privately and in the NHS for over 10 years. Currently I am employed in a large teaching hospital in Surrey working with individuals with chronic health difficulties.
Prior to this post, I spent over four years working in a number of community teams for children, adults and older adults encountering a broad and wide range of needs and psychological difficulties. I have also worked in a specialist OCD clinic in the Maudsley Hospital in Central London where my interest in anxiety disorders grew. As well as being a member of the clinical team at the Maudsley, I also assisted on various research projects and publications. Finally, I spent 2 years working in an adolescent eating disorders unit.
The main approach I use in my sessions is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as well as other evidence-based treatments such as Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These are structured treatments are recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE; https://www.nice.org.uk/) for many psychological problems. Furthermore, I may also draw upon ideas from systemic family therapy, solution focused therapy and object relations approaches in an effort to get the best understanding I can of what your needs are and how best to move forward.
In terms of sessions, typically, we would meet for one (or two) assessment sessions whereby we would explore and discuss the difficulties you are experiencing. We would think through how these issues may have arisen and how they are being maintained (possibly despite your efforts to change things). Your narrative combined with psychological theory helps gives us the best platform to understanding what is occurring. This latter part is known as the formulation stage and we use this to help direct and guide the remainder therapy sessions.

£90 per session lasting 50-60 minutes.
I adhere to strict guidelines proposed by the HCPC and BPS including confidentiality around note taking, information sharing and session content. We will discuss this further in our first session together so you are clear on such policies.
