About me

  • I have worked in the NHS for many years as well as in private practice. I am quite friendly and try to work out with clients what it is they struggle with - and the reasons behind their difficulties. The reasons are not always the obvious ones or the ones that put us in a good light.

I see people (both individuals and couples) with various concerns about their lives and relationships. I provide a safe place to examine and think about how issues resurface and bring distress and often a sense of helplessness. These issues can be thought about and hopefully understood in context of the person’s life, enabling them to be less overwhelmed.

I specialise in seeing individuals and couples with difficulties ranging from relationship crises, loss, sexual dysfunction, sexual abuse and personality disorders.

In our first few sessions, I will try to help you to tell your life story, including significant relationships and events, both happy and sad, from childhood to present day.  Emotional distress often has its roots in an individual’s unconscious and the telling of this story often reveals patterns that may help us understand how you came to be the person you are today, and to consider what new ways of coping may be available to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of the Institute of Group Analysts (MIGA) and a registered psychotherapist (UKCP).

I have worked with clients for 20 years, both as part of the NHS and privately. I have seen individuals with difficulties ranging from relationship crises, loss, sexual dysfunction, sexual abuse and personality disorders.

I have a certificate in the sexual relationship from the Tavistock and I have completed the Hold Me Tight (emotionally focused therapy for couples) training.

I have experience of working with Sensate focused therapy (a programme of physical exercises that address issues of desire, libido and dysfunction. These exercises are combined with exploring the psychological meaning behind these difficulties.
