About me

Whether you’re going through a life changing event or you’re just wanting someone who will listen, I am here to help. I understand it is difficult to reach out for support when you’re feeling burnt out and overwhelmed. Some days can even be so hard to get out of bed yet you are still exhausted. When you’re heard and supported, you can start feeling happier and more confident. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I offer a warm and caring environment where I can tailor your therapy to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. This is your time for you

I understand that everyone has their own difficulties, life experiences and their own needs in therapy.

I offer the flexibility of online and telephone sessions so you can curl up in a chair with a hot cuppa and talk about life events as well as being  based at Amron House in the centre of North Shields on Monday mornings for in person sessions.

This is your time to be heard, accepted and understood with no interruption or judgement.

After 2 difficult pregnancies and the birth of my children, I struggled with post natal depression and anxiety. It was in this time I started my own personal therapy. I soon started to reduce the anxiety symptoms and could enjoy being a mum again. I felt hopeful and excited for the future.

Counselling offers you a safe and confidential space where you will be listened to and accepted. Having sessions can help you work through your problems, explore your thoughts and feelings, to make sense of things, to understand yourself more and help you to set and achieve your goals and make positive changes in your life. From making these positive steps, you can start to feel able to approach daily tasks you once found overwhelming by taking back control and conquering your anxiety and negative thoughts. Imagine feeling refreshed and energised, ready to take on the day, feeling a sense of peace and calm.

Counselling is open ended so you can decide if you want short or long term.  Sessions will go at your pace meaning there’s no pressure to open up and you can do that when you feel ready to do so.

I offer a free 20 minute telephone call to discuss your therapy goals. This is an opportunity for you to ask me any questions and get to know each other and see if we are the right fit for each other.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
