Rebecca MacKenzie, Dip.Couns., Reg.BACP
As a counsellor I will offer you a genuine & honest relationship within which you are fully accepted and understood as you are. Where you will be free to explore whatever issues you feel are important at this time.
I am an experienced counsellor who works with adults of all ages. I am trained in the Person Centred Approach, a gentle, non-directive way of working, which aims to harness your inner wisdom to help you heal, grow, and find a more deeply satisfying way of being.
I believe that through being listened to you can come to a clearer understanding & greater acceptance of yourself and your life story. I have found, through personal experience and through my professional work, that if you can understand and accept yourself, you will begin to heal and grow.
The broad aims of how I work are to help you heal past wounds; help you develop as a person; and help you to live your life more fully.
The more specific aims of our working will be decided by you.
I offer weekly sessions lasting 50 minutes, at the same time and place each week.
Once you have contacted me to express an interest we will have a telephone conversation, to establish whether I am offering what it is you are looking for. Then we can arrange a date and time for our initial meeting.

I charge a £30 flat rate for an initial meeting.
Then my fees are on a sliding scale depending on your earnings. I keep a small number of spaces for clients on lower incomes.
£30 - low cost - this earning under £30k per year
£40 - those earning £30k - £59k per year
£60 - those earning £60k plus per year
If you are not currently earning, but your partner is, I suggest you base this on 50% of your partners income.
Our initial meeting will be for us both to decide if I am the right counsellor for you. Towards the end of the meeting we will decide whether we will meet again. We would then discuss how you wish to proceed.
I am happy to work on a short term or long term basis. How long you attend counselling for is entirely up to you. We can decide to work for a set number of weeks or months, or keep going on an open ended basis. Either way, you are free to finish at any time.
What is the Person Centred Approach?
This is an approach to counselling which believes that through being listened you will be enabled to come to a clearer understanding of yourself and your life story. We aim to offer you a genuine and honest relationship within which we fully accept and understand you as you are right now. We absolutely do not seek to 'diagnose' you, or put any kind of label on you.
In the Person Centre Approach we believe that you are the person who knows yourself best and our job is to work with you to discover further what you truly feel and think. We want to help you find what the truth is for you, as we believe that this will help heal the past, and bring clarity for you in discovering what future direction you would like to travel in.
