Counselling with, adults, couples, teenagers, and families

About me

I am a counsellor and supervisor with over 20 years of experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, OCD, anger issues, low self esteem, relationship issues, as well as personality conditions such as borderline personality condition, (BPD) ASD, ADHD spectrum.

My years of training and experience inform me the best way to work with you, using for example - person centred talking therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy to mention a few. I’m happy to discuss these with you if necessary.

I don’t believe in one type of therapy is for everyone, I use different therapies that will best benefit you. I have in-depth and wide-ranging experience of working with teenagers, adults, families, couples, and children, in addition to my ongoing practice I currently work in schools with students aged 5 to 18.

So, with the many therapists available why use me?

As a very experienced counsellor I aim to help you explore, understand, and look at the best way forward.

I will give you tools and future life skills. I will give you ideas on how to manage and regulate your emotions.

I strive to provide a service that offers you a safe speaking space, (physical or virtual) where you will gain a valuable plan on how to better think about your future.

For me becoming a counsellor was one of the best choices I have made.
During this time I have been privileged to help my clients overcome their challenges, including, but not limited to:

Anxiety, Panic, Depression, Domestic abuse, obsessions, bereavements and loss, Bullying, Anger, Low Self-Esteem, Lack of Confidence, and Difficulty in Communicating ect.

By investing time with me you will benefit from my experience. I will share all my learning with you, and provide you with lifelong strategies you will always have.

If you would like to know anything more than what my profile highlights, please feel free to give me a call.

I am happy to offer a 20 minute basic complimentary telephone call, or virtual call, during which I can answer any questions you may have. You can email me here,

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I once again welcome people back into the quiet sanctuary of my dedicated counselling room. And I continue to provide my services online for those who would prefer to do so, as this new way of working has proven to work really.

Working Safely and Ethically together.

The Coronavirus Pandemic has impacted the lives of people across the country, with many people still feeling overwhelmed and trying to stay in control of their lives. My room is sanitised after each Client, with fresh air where possible. I am happy to wear a mask for the Clients safety if preferred.

Working in person traditionally has been the desired preference for many clients, however I have found working online is also a highly effective way to provide support to people across the whole of the UK and beyond. I have had the pleasure of working with clients in the USA and Australia, as well as many clients from Kent, London, and Manchester.

Here are the benefits of online therapy.

  • No travel required. This is great particularly if you are unable to get out. Easier if you do not drive, and if you do drive it saves on petrol, parking, and traffic worries.
  • Less of your time is required as you will not need to add on travel time, and in our busy life this can really help.
  • You can have your session in your own familiar environment, surrounded by your own comfort, which for some may feel a safer experience.
  • If you live in a remote area, seeing me online may much more convenient.
  • Mobility/disability can be a big issue for some people and if you cannot get to me in person, we can still work.
  • Less time getting to me may make your start calmer.
  • Working with the whole family has been easier online as often there can be difficulties with everyone's timing. Also different members can join us in different places.

Benefits of seeing me in person

  • You may feel getting out of your own home more confidential if you don’t live alone, and a different environment can feel refreshing.
  • Some people feel they can absorb the conversation easier in person, and feel as they are being listened too better.
  • We don’t need to worry about poor internet connection.
  • To put your mind at rest I take a test 2x per week and have had both jabs. If you do see me in person please test prior to seeing me.

The number of sessions can be as many or as few as you need.

Counselling can help by simply being able to talk honestly and openly in a safe environment.

Life coach work: This can be separate or a combination of motivation and counselling support.

If you'd like more information on the above please contact me by phone or email and I can answer any questions you may have. There is no obligation to make an appointment.
