About me

Hello, I’m Rayner. Welcome. It’s normal to feel unsure looking for help.

Personal experience shaped my interest in the relationship between physical and emotional health. I work with adults affected by the stress, uncertainty, anxiety and grief of long term health conditions and major life events.

If you are experiencing:

  • Feeling anxious, unsure, sad, angry, stressed, panic, stuck, lost.
  • Emotions out of control, overwhelmed.
  • Bereaved of a loved one, for the life you’ve known, for an ability you’ve taken for granted (walking, talking, thinking, feeling, seeing or hearing).
  • Feeling guilty or overloaded by caring, health or family.
  • Relationships not working.
  • Change not living up to expectations.
  • Something unexpected caught you off guard.

Finding the right person, to make that contact seeking help takes courage. Text or email me. I will reply.

Managing the maze of health care systems impacts our relationships with ourselves and others. I offer the flexibility of working online at your own pace to help accommodate these factors.

I’ve worked with many health concerns. Some of the most common ones are: cancer, dementia, Parkinson's disease, MS, major organ failure, Huntington's disease, MND, stroke, age related frailty.

I regularly work with other issues such as abuse, anger, attachment, bereavement, carer support, low self confidence and self-esteem, depression, disabilities, guilt, relationship problems, redundancy, trauma and life-limiting illnesses.

  • Are you in a situation where you simply don’t know where to turn?
  • Do you feel confused by the choices available to you or disliked all of them?
  • Have you wondered - how did this happen?

I’ve 20 years experience as a counsellor working with individual adults and older adults, with major life events and health related worries. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor.

Whether dilemma or significant change, (unexpected or planned), sharing how you feel and clarifying your thoughts is a really healthy option. Improve your confidence, sleep better, feel brighter invest in yourself with counselling.

If any of this resonates with you get in touch.

Counselling with me:

I believe it is healthy to admit that sometimes we all need a little help.

Finding the right person, to make that contact seeking help takes courage. Text or email me. I will reply.

Whatever initially brings us together, talking things through in a unique relationship, can help you to hear yourself, to reflect, explore your options and discover what is right for you. It may turn out to be the most powerful medicine you take.

What happens next...

I offer an initial no further obligation online meeting for you to talk openly about your concerns and how you would like things to be different. If we both feel comfortable we will talk about practicalities, agree a regular time and day to meet, along with the cost. Usually, meetings (sessions) are weekly, lasting 50 minutes. I will take some basic details, like name, address and a phone number. Some brief records are kept of each meeting.

In our work together I aim to be alongside you as you explore what you would like to be different. No worry is too small – if it’s important enough to worry you it’s important enough to seek counselling. Working with someone who does not know you and is otherwise unconnected with your life often makes this easier than it may seem.

If you have any questions, or you would like to arrange a virtual meeting, then I encourage you to get in touch today, either by telephone: 07982 978 555 or click here to send me an email.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
