Ray Watters BA, FdSc, MBACP
Welcome and thank you for taking the first step on your counselling journey. It is sometimes difficult to understand what is going on for ourselves when we encounter challenges or change in our life be it ill health, stress, anxiety, difficulties at work, a change in personal circumstances such as redundancy, children leaving home or that something that you can not put your fingers on.
With personal struggles and the desire to make sense of what is going on it is essential to find the right therapist with whom to share this journey of self discovery. I am a humanistic counsellor and operate a private practice close to Leatherhead, Surrey. I also counsel adolescents in a sixth form college in Hampshire and at a private school in Godalming. I firmly believe that we all have within us the ability to live a more fulfilling life and no matter how difficult or impossible things at the time seem to be, the ability within ourselves to make that happen.

Areas of counselling I deal with
I offer a discounted half hour introduction to counselling session for £20, to explain how counselling works and to see if it is for you and whether you think we can work together.
There after the cost is £45 per session with a discount for multiple sessions and some concessions are available.
I am passionate about using creativity and music as a door way to our inner thoughts, emotions and experiences. Through simple but effective tools such as sand tray, drums, art materials and music we are able to explore further what is going on for you. These acts of creativity can act as keys to unpick blockages as well as allowing one to be able to see elements of your life laid out in front of you some times for the first time.
Listening to a piece of music can instantly invoke emotions and experiences as the brain processes the music and decides if you have heard it before, when and where you heard and what it means to you.
I am also a hand drummer and use drumming in various mental health and exceptional needs settings as well as other groups including cancer sufferer and survivor groups, hospices working with children, adolescents and adults as well as bereavement counsellors.
