About me

Hi, my name is Rachel and I am a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Counselling is an empowering process that can have a significant positive effect on your mental health and well-being.

I am trained in is person-centred counselling founded by Carl Rogers. This approach empowers you to discover solutions to issues in a supportive environment. As a counsellor I offer you my honesty and respect whilst we explore issues you feel you would like to bring to counselling at the times that we have agreed.

Counselling can be useful for an individual who wants to explore thoughts or feelings they may be having, as well as for anyone experiencing a problem or issue they aren't coping with or would like to resolve.

People may choose to speak to a counsellor for many different reasons. It might be because they feel they cannot speak to their friends or family about certain topics. Some people might feel comfortable speaking to friends and family but come to counselling to speak in a room free from judgement and expectations. Some people may choose to talk to a counsellor because they like speaking to someone who is not involved in a situation they wish to talk about so they can provide and objective viewpoint.

Counselling can be helpful for anyone wishing to explore the way they are thinking or feeling. Common subjects often brought to counselling are:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • phobias
  • addictions
  • bereavement
  • bullying
  • illness
  • mental health
  • trauma
  • stress
  • inner conflict
  • family conflict
  • relationships
  • LGBTQ+ issues
  • womens issues

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied a BSc in Psychology at the University of Birmingham and this is where my interest in counselling first began. I undertook a short course in the Introduction to Counselling Skills at Coleshill Counselling Service before attending Keele University to complete my MSc in Counselling Psychology.

I have lots of experience working with teenagers and young adults in a college and university as well as with working with a wide range of individuals in a GP surgery. I have worked with clients with depression, anxiety, phobias, trauma, inner conflicts, family conflicts, LGBTQ+ issues and many more.

I now have a practice in Wilmslow where I continue to see clients for counselling. Please feel free to contact me or visit my website for any further information.
