About me

Sometimes it feels like life has become too much, consumed with anxiety and stress not knowing in which direction to turn next. Trapped in a dark place which is scary and lonely! We try to get out of there but no matter how hard we try, we can't, we feel no one understands. It feels completely impossible and lonely. We feel people are becoming irritated with us or pretend to understand when really they don't. Some offer a shoulder to cry on but it doesn't feel enough. It almost feels like we are going mad. I can assure you that you're not and I would like to help you and work through these issues in order for you to live the happy fulfilling life that you deserve.

I mainly practice by doing home visits as I appreciate that sometimes its hard leaving the house when you're feeling low or leaving the house my not even be an option due to an illness or a disability.

I cover most of West Yorkshire and I am able to offer flexibility with appointments.

I offer a safe non-judgmental space for you to work through any concerns or issues you have confidentially. I will not judge you, after all its you that has to walk in your shoes.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means I work in line with their ethical framework and have all the sufficient qualifications and training in order to practice as a counsellor.

Counselling for me is not just a job, its a passion. I'm passionate about helping people find themselves. I am not directive and will not tell you how to live your life. We will explore together what works best for you. I believe you already have the answers and I will try help you find them.

I have a wealth of experience working in many areas. I have worked for many years supporting individuals who have been victims of sexual abuse and rape. Recent or historical. I have completed many hours of training in this area and in addition I have attended many rape trials supporting clients through this experience.

I am also experienced working with clients who suffer from general anxiety and depression, clients who have been affected by a cancer diagnosis or who have suffered a bereavement.

I also work with children using therapeutic play. I have worked with many children and young people covering a wide range of issues from low self-esteem, bullying, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, children who have gone through the care system and much more.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
