About me

I am now offering face to face counselling but am still working remotely if that suits you better.

Client testimonial: “I cannot recommend Rachel enough. I immediately felt comfortable and safe with her. She is incredibly easy to talk to and understanding. Rachel helped me to understand myself and my issues, but with me taking the lead and coming to my own realisations. She would then help me to formulate effective plans and actions, and would be constantly helping me to improve them and myself.
My time with Rachel was truly life changing and the best thing I have ever done for myself and I will always be so grateful for her. “

Client Testimonial: " I started seeing Rachel after a few big life changes. I was struggling to make sense of what had happened, and was battling anxiety on a daily basis. Rachel was very easy to talk to, and completely non judgmental. She gave me tools to overcome panic attacks, as well as clear advice about how to combat negative thoughts before they took hold. I definitely have a lot more control over my mental well-being thanks to her."

I have a deep interest in people and their life experiences, and the way these experiences can affect our ability to thrive. We all have the ability within us to move towards contentment and fulfilment - counselling can help us discover that ability.

I am an experienced therapeutic counsellor, and have achieved accredited status as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.  I currently work in private practice, as well as counselling for the NHS in a Primary Care setting. I work with individuals and couples. I am registered to work with Neath Port Talbot College, supporting staff through counselling.

I am a trained EMDR therapist, using this effective approach to process the distressing symptoms of trauma.

My counselling work and experience has brought me into contact with people from all backgrounds from the age of 16 to 85 years. My clients have faced a wide range of concerns, including generalised anxiety disorder, panic attacks and anxiety, including health anxiety, relationship issues including affairs and divorce, illness, bullying, bereavement, depression, addiction issues and sexual abuse and trauma.

I am available to work with couples or individuals.

I am warm, reliable and consistent in my approach, and offer a safe, confidential space where you can talk about your concerns and work towards change with my support.

You can contact me by email or by phone to arrange a first appointment  Together we can  look at what has brought you to counselling and you can decide whether I'm the right counsellor for you.

I offer one space for Walking and Talking, making use of our beautiful countryside as a backdrop to our work. This may suit you if you find the prospect of sitting and talking a hindrance to accessing counselling, or if you find the landscape comforting and inspiring as you seek answers to your questions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

My rooms are not fully wheelchair accessible, although they are on the ground floor - there is a small step down to my consulting room. However if you are a wheelchair user, please contact me and I will find us an accessible space.
