About me

Welcome....Individuals and Couples

How are you coping with our current global crisis? Has it triggered some overwhelming feelings? I can help you regulate and calm your nervous system. By doing this we can decrease anxiety, fear, unhelpful thoughts, panic-attacks and unhelpful behaviours.

Are you feeling anxious and confused? Are you trying to deal with a distressing family issue? Are you frustrated in your current relationship or job? Have you experienced a betrayal? Are you looking for more trust and respect from your partner? Do you want to understand and change unhelpful and destructive behaviour patterns? Do you want to learn new ways of communicating and managing stressful conflicts?

As your counsellor I can reassure you that I will offer you a non-judgmental and accepting therapeutic relationship. I will be professional, reliable, resilient and committed to supporting you.

Location

My practice is located in Chertsey South not far from St.Peters Hospital (Junction 11 on the M25). I am local to Ottershaw, Virginia Water, Staines, Egham, Shepperton, Chobham, Woking, New Haw, Addlestone, Weybridge and surrounding areas. I practice from a confidential and safe therapy room from my home address which is in a quiet residential road. There is ample parking available. I offer long or short term counselling.

How I work

As an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor, I integrate different approaches. This means that I combine approaches such as Person-Centred, Gestalt, TA and Existential.

Counselling and psychotherapy is an individual process and I always tailor my approach to my clients individual needs. My way of working with you is to focus on how you are feeling in the 'here and now', this allows opportunity to understand the past and the present which can then help you to move forward, feeling free from being weighed down by old baggage. This process will highlight the roles you take on in your relationships, for example...do you always feel like you have to be the parent or the child in the relationship? Counselling allows you to become more self-aware which can have a profound effect on all aspects of your life.

I am experienced in supporting individuals and couples of all backgrounds, sexual orientation, race and ethnicities.

I work extensively with couples and individuals. I have particular experience working with anxiety, stuck shame and guilt, low self-esteem and unhelpful behaviour patterns.

Training, qualifications & experience

About Me

I have been training and working as a Counsellor since 2006.  I have a foundation Degree in Integrative Humanistic Counselling with Greenwich University. I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) which validates me as a competent and ethical practitioner where I am bound by their ethical framework.

My counselling background comes from working with the NHS within a GP setting, CRUSE Bereavement Care and the Samaritans. I currently see clients at my private practice in Chertsey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
