About me

Welcome, I hope my profile goes a little towards getting to know me and gives a flavour of what working together may feel like.

I have worked in the field of mental health for many years and have developed into an experienced, integrative therapist; adept in harvesting a meaningful, trusted, inclusive therapeutic experience between equals.

Providing an intuitive, empathic and warm environment to explore emotional difficulties, focus on internal confusion/struggles, help you learn to tolerate distress, regulate emotions or look for opportunities for personal growth and self discovery.

Why Therapy With Me?

Applying a combined approach to therapy promotes the blending together of a range of psychological theories, modalities and interventions to suit the specific needs of the client.  I enjoy working with a sensory experience and introduce creative ways of working if that suits the individual.

Type of Therapy on Offer:

My practice incorporates DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy), Humanistic, CBT, Mindfulness, Schema Therapy and Psychodynamic models to inform my work. Your therapeutic journey is unique to you; therefore, you get to choose a bespoke, flexible treatment pathway.  It may include shining a light on on here and now distress, or looking at early life experiences for origins and themes that remain present in our cognitive scripts which can influence emotions and behaviour or a specific psychotherapy.

‘Your sessions, your way, your pace’.

My areas of specialism are working with depression, anxiety, personality and mood disorders, trauma responses (PTSD/CPTSD) and crisis/immediate response support.I have a wealth of experience working with trauma, both historical and current; understanding the wider impacts that trauma can have on us psychologically, emotionally and somatically.

Having worked both in secure settings and the community I am confident when working with people where their mental health is showing up as complex presentation.  You may be reaching out for support as someone close to you has been diagnosed with a mental health condition or they are struggling with their own mental wellness and you feel it would be beneficial to have a space to outpour, gain further insight and breathe.

I've worked in the field of drug and alcohol recovery for many years, helping individual’s break free from the dysfunctional behaviours linked to substance use and provided support to those through consequential impacts including relational ruptures and professional issues.

I offer Bereavement Counselling and can help you process your feelings of loss and grief from losing a loved one.

What My Clients Say:

"Sessions with Rachel allowed me to be heard and validated for the first time in my life.  The trusted relationship meant I felt safe enough to share and work through the trauma I'd experienced, reaching a place of healing, strength and acceptance"

"Before entering therapy with Rachel I struggled hugely emotionally and didn't know how to not feel emotions intensely and not react.  Now I have the skills and tools to tolerate distress, use my wise mind and this feels incredibly empowering and freeing"

“I went from self loathing, self harming and battling acute anxiety to believing in myself, understanding my triggers and having new ways of managing the urges to harm. I now feel comfortable in my own skin and can engage fully in life, bringing a new sense of clarity, meaning and fulfilment.”

Next Steps:

Let's work collaboratively to harvest new ways of viewing your difficulties, develop new ways of coping and exploring interventions to alleviate distress, benefiting in protecting continued mental wellness.

Reach out by telephone or email and we can have an informal chat about how I can help you.
