About me

Making the decision to start counselling isn’t always easy. I offer a warm and safe space where we can work collaboratively to explore issues and problems you may be experiencing with empathy and support at a pace that feels comfortable to you.

Research into successful counselling outcomes has shown that it’s not the modality of counselling which dictates a successful outcome but the relationship between the counsellor and client. In order to consider whether I might be the right counsellor for you, I suggest an initial twenty-minute phone call where you can find out more about how I work and I can answer any questions you may have. You can then take time to reflect on whether you feel that you would feel comfortable working together. At the first session we will talk about your life and what brings you to counselling, and discuss what your hopes for counselling might be. I understand how difficult it may be to open up about your life to a stranger so there are no expectations about how much you will share while we get to know each other.

I offer both short term (six to twelve weeks) and long term counselling. In longer term work I suggest a review every six weeks to give us the opportunity to discuss how you are finding counselling and to make sure that you are still getting what you need.

I am based in Wimbledon town centre just a few minutes walk from the station.  Alternatively, I also offer online counselling via Zoom for clients aged 18+.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BA (Hons) in Integrative Relational Counselling and a Diploma in Adolescent and Schools Counselling. I have worked with adult clients in an agency setting and have over twenty years experience supporting adolescents and young people in secondary schools, both in pastoral roles and as a School Counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
