About me

I am an integrative counsellor with over 15 years experience. I am particularly influenced by Psychodynamic and Person Centred models.

I offer both long and short term therapy and have worked with a wide variety of issues and clients.

My therapy room is based in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead. There is free parking available for an hour. The room itself is comfortable and discreet, offering you a safe space. I also offer online and phone sessions.

In the first session, we would discuss what you are hoping to get from therapy and reasons for coming. We would also outline key details of the therapy such as confidentiality, payment of fees and cancellations which all help to begin building a trusting relationship. It is also an opportunity to explore whether you feel you would like to work with me.

I am a senior accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am bound by their code of ethics. I attend regular supervision to ensure good practice and maintain ethical standards.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
