About me

Counselling can help when you feel like no-one else understands what it’s like to be you; when the way you feel makes no sense to you; or when you no longer feel in control of how you feel. Sometimes we just need someone who will really listen to us and treat us with respect and without judgement.

As a qualified Counsellor I can offer you professional help for all kinds of emotional distress and assist you in leading a more fulfilling life with more satisfying relationships.

We can’t always choose what happens to us or how other people behave towards us, but we can change our perception of life's events and our role in society, and become more aware of our own patterns and behaviour.

I believe that we all have the inner resources to heal, change and grow.  But in various ways we can silence that inner voice that holds the answers and guides us to the right solution. I take the time to reconnect you to that quiet inner voice, the real you; to provide you with a deeper understanding of who you are so you can find your own way forward in a way that is right for you. This experience and process can enable you to feel more accepting of yourself as a person of worth.

I work to see your world through your eyes and to value and respect you as an individual without judgement. My aim is for you to feel safe and trusting enough to feel able to be who you are without limitations or censorship. I will work in a nurturing and supportive way, enabling you to come to a clearer understanding of what you want and accepting what you decide is right for you.

Sessions can be difficult and uncomfortable at times as exploring the depths of ourselves can be painful, but also rewarding and enlightening.  They reflect the challenges of life and may help towards using those challenges in a constructive and positive way. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you at all times.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
