About me

Hello, and a warm welcome to you.

I am an experienced integrative therapist offering online counselling and psychotherapy sessions for adults and young people aged 14 and older.

I am available for appointments from Monday to Thursday, with both daytime and evening slots. As an integrative therapist, I utilise various therapeutic styles and techniques to identify the approach that works best for you.

My work is collaborative; I recognise that each person I work with is unique, with different wants, needs, and hopes for the future. I fundamentally believe that each individual knows themselves best. However, life can present challenges, such as childhood experiences or traumatic events, that may obscure that self-knowledge. My role is to support you in finding your way back to yourself.

Authenticity is incredibly important to me as a therapist. I believe it is possible to maintain professionalism and clear boundaries while also creating a warm, safe space that fosters curiosity, openness, and compassion.

As someone who has come to understand my own AuDHD identity, I bring this lived experience and insight into my therapeutic practice.

No matter what struggles, emotional distress, or questions have led you here, therapy will be a space where you will feel deeply listened to and supported as you journey towards greater ease and a more fulfilled life.

Training, qualifications & experience

With over twenty years of experience in the Health and Social Care sector, I have gained significant insight into the challenges and difficulties that individuals face in their lives.

I qualified as a person-centred counsellor in 2014 at the University of Sunderland and have since completed training in several therapeutic models, including relational therapy, DNA-V, and brainspotting.

To keep my knowledge and skills up to date, I regularly pursue additional training, which has included:

  • Level 4 Counselling for Children and Young People (Place2Be)
  • Brainspotting Levels 1 and 2 (Brainspotting UK)
  • Working with Neurodiversity and Trauma
  • Loss and Bereavement Counselling (CRUSE)

I am particularly interested in exploring our internal narratives and the benefits of examining these stories. Additionally, I like to incorporate mindfulness, values work, and the mind-body connection into our sessions when it feels appropriate.

In addition to my private therapy practice, I have held various roles, including:

  • Service Manager for an Adult 12-Step Residential Rehabilitation Service and
  • Community Recovery Centre - Service Manager for an HMP Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service
  • Manager / Senior Counsellor for a Children and Young People counselling service
  • NHS Counsellor for Children and Young People

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have a special interest in Neurodivergence. As a late realised AuDHD woman, I have experience of the challenges that can occur from being a Neurodivergent person in a Neurotypical world. I am neurodivergent affirming, which means I see the advantages and disadvantages of all brain types.

I also have extensive experience working in the following areas:

  • addiction and recovery
  • work-related issues
  • relationship difficulties
  • grief and loss

I offer Brainspotting within the therapeutic work that I carry out. Brainspotting is an innovative brain-body-based therapy that has developed out of EMDR. It works with the deep brain, emotions and experiences that become stuck in our body and prevent us from functioning and living our lives as we want to. It is very helpful for releasing and processing trauma.
