I am a qualified, registered and experienced counsellor working in private practice on a one to one basis. I offer a caring, safe and professional therapy relationship which keeps your needs at the heart of our work together.
Most of us will feel 'stuck' or distressed in some way at some time in our lives. It may be that we aren't sure exactly what's wrong or we may have something more specific going on for us that we want to understand and resolve. We may feel despairing or we may simply want to explore who we are and what more we want from our lives.
Whatever brings you, I am committed to being alongside you in your exploration, helping you to 'see the wood for the trees' and working with you to address your difficulties and to move beyond them.
I am a trained Person Centred counsellor, which means that my work will be uniquely tailored to you.
You will decide what to explore and how long you want to attend.
I will do my very best to empathise with you and to be honest and genuine with you, accepting and respecting you for who you are.
What motivates us to begin a therapy journey is as unique as we are and I aim to approach every client without preconceptions, regardless of age, sexual identity, gender, belief systems, levels of ability, ethnicity or cultural and social background.

Much of my counselling work has been with bereavement and loss, personal or professional relationships, low self-esteem or lack of confidence, stress, anxiety and depression.
Areas of counselling I deal with
- Anger management
- Carer support
- Chronic fatigue syndrome/ME
- Domestic violence
- Feeling sad
- Low self-confidence
- Low self-esteem
- Passive aggressive behaviour
Other areas of counselling I deal with
My initial academic and vocational training was in the performance arts. I bring my experience and understanding of the particular difficulties actors, musicians and dancers can face to my work with them. Difficulties we have worked with include:
- coping with a public profile
- performance anxiety and stage-fright
- auditioning and rejection
- career instability
- effects of injury
- whether to continue or to change career
In addition, my MSc Dissertation research explores the experience of attending boarding school and the particular reverberations boarders might feel in their adult lives.
It has been shown in research that the relationship between the client and counsellor is the crucial factor in whether therapy will make a positive difference so it's important that you find the right counsellor for you. I offer a reduced rate for our initial meeting so that we can meet, you can get a feel for how I work and we can see whether we might be a good fit.
My fees are:
- £45 for our initial session
- £60 per session thereafter
Fees can be paid in advance of each session by BACS or in cash or by card payment each time we meet.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and are usually held at the same time, on the same day, each week.
I ask that you give me 48 hours' notice of cancellation of an arranged session. I will always endeavour to offer you another slot that week but if that is not possible, the full fee will be payable before we meet again.
Safe Professional Practice
As a registered member of the BACP, I work within the 'Ethical Framework for Good Practice in the Counselling Professions' and am subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure it outlines.
I hold a current DBS certificate and my work is fully insured and underpinned by regular clinical supervision. I invest in continuing personal and professional development so as to be able to offer an informed, contemporary and dynamic practice.
