I provide support for all types of change using psychotherapy, counselling & coaching. I work regularly with many areas including mood problems such as depression, anger and anxiety, addiction (smoking, food, alcohol & drugs) & weight-control, offering, 1:1, couple & family therapy to all age groups, particularly young people & those in mid-life change.
I like to work with the positive aspects of people’s personalities and their strengths rather than focusing on what is wrong with them and believe in and practice Positive Psychotherapy and Psychology. I work using tools from various approaches, working in an integrative and relational manner. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client forms the foundations in which positive change can take place.
Alongside my private practice work I am still involved with Help! Counselling who provide low cost long term counselling to children and young adults (9-25yrs) in Bristol as a volunteer counsellor. I am also working with the Artists Against Bullying Unite campaign.
I am also an enthusiastic musician and use the creative process where ever possible in my therapeutic work. As a supplement to this I also work with a Bristol based charity called Mind Your Music on a volunteer and occasionally paid basis.
My training has covered Person Centred, Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (I have a certificate in CBT Counselling) and in recent times have focused more on Transactional Analysis. I initially studied at University of West of England where I gained my Counselling Certificate before studying at The Berne Institute where along with my CBT study I gained a Post Graduate Clinical Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling. I am a member of the UK Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners which is a full member of the Humanistic College of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). I am currently working towards accreditation with the UKAHPP.
Prior to all this I spent many years in the IT industry at all levels from programmer to Company Director and dealing with personal development as a line manager and training as a methodology expert, I decided in 2006 to diversify into Coaching, Counselling and Psychotherapy. Along the way I have also became a qualified British Rowing Indoor Rowing Coach and a GHR Registered Hypnotherapist.
