In the last few years there has been increasing media attention on the benefits of good mental health, and also on reducing the stigma that people encounter when discussing their problems openly. In response to this we have set up Purewell Counselling & Supervision.
We are a group of counsellors committed to offering a low-cost high-quality service to clients who might otherwise not be able to access counselling. Sessions are typically 50 minutes each, usually on the same day every week. We can offer short-term and long-term counselling with regular reviews to ensure that our service is meeting your needs. We offer face to face, Skype and telephone support and our services are confidential.
We all struggle from time to time and there are many reasons to seek help from a counsellor. It can be long term problems that have been there all your life, a current crisis or maybe even a feeling that you want to change something but you're not sure what. Whatever you want to bring to sessions will be handled in a confidential, non-judgemental way and we aim to provide a safe and warm space in which you can explore your feelings and find a way forward.
Our service offers help and support with relationship issues, bereavement, drug and alcohol issues, anxiety, depression and post-diagnostic support amongst many other issues. We work as humanistic counsellors but we can also offer CBT.
After you contact us, an appointment will be made to do the initial assessment so we can take your details, you can tell us what has brought you to therapy and you can learn more about us. The assessment can be done face to face, or over the telephone if you prefer. It should take about half an hour and is free of charge.
As part of the assessment, a regular day and time will be set for subsequent sessions and, if appropriate, the number of sessions that you might require. Initially, we would like you to commit to four sessions in order to see how therapy is working for you. At the end of this time, further sessions can be booked either as a set number, or left open-ended to end when you are ready. We understand that not everybody works set hours, therefore we try and be flexible with regard to this.
Also during assessment we will discuss fees. We offer a sliding scale from £20 - £35 per session, depending on what you can afford. We are committed to making counselling accessible, so if your circumstances change, we are open to renegotiating our fee.

Individual counselling – Sessions are 50 minutes long and are charged on a sliding scale from £20 - £35 based on what you can afford. The reason we do this and not charge one set fee, is because we believe that counselling should be accessible to everyone and often the biggest barrier to seeking help is the cost.
Sessions for children are typically shorter at 30-40 minutes and charged at £20 - £30 per session based on what you can afford. For children 15 and under, please note that a responsible adult will need to remain on the premises for the duration of the session.
Level 4 students doing their 40 hours of personal therapy – £25.00 per 50 minute session.
Young carers – £20.00 per 50 minute session.
Couples counselling is available and charged at £40 - £50 per session.
