Taking the first step in admitting something doesn't feel right can be a challenge within itself. The fact that you are reading this could mean you are considering therapy to help you figure out those problems. It can feel really tough throughout stages of our lives where we get thrown challenges to try to handle those situations as well as juggling daily life which can all feel a bit too much. Life can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions with real highs; whereby we grow and thrive from life's challenges to painful lows where we can almost feel destroyed by life; what happens to us and around us which can impact our health and relationships at any age. I offer a safe, confidential and compassionate space for you to begin exploring these challenges at your own pace.
The journey throughout life's stages can throw up wounds from the past, questioning ourselves on whether we have ticked all the boxes for being at this stage - mortgages, car, jobs, progression etc. We can often get lost within this, bringing feelings which are not familiar or do not make sense to the current status of life. Sometimes those feelings take over our daily life and make it difficult to do the tasks that you could once do with ease.
If you want to explore those feelings and find peace within your daily life by doing more than just 'surviving', assistance with life's daily challenges, exploring and transforming relationships - Please do not hesitate to get in touch. Therapy can bring real and lasting change to your life.
Do you feel lost? Overwhelmed? Lack of Confidence? Disassociated from everyone around you?
Anxious? Depressed? Stressed? Intrusive Thoughts? Panic Attacks? Low Mood? Low Self-Esteem? Finding it hard to cope?
Why not reach out and make contact so we can explore those feelings together and begin to attempt making sense of them.
As a Humanistic Integrative Therapist, I am able to integrate different therapies to assist in exploring your feelings. I firmly believe that we are all different and therefore not one form of therapy works for all. My training has allowed me to incorporate 5 different therapies to enable me to use the skills most suited to you. It enables me to work with an array of issues, using interventions such as Psychodynamic (Linking past experiences to current patterns of behaviour/choices), Person Centred (Focused on exploring issues within your timeframe/looking at how you perceive yourself/how others see you - relating to others), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - Looking at how challenging thought processes can help to reduce changes in moods/unhelpful behaviours, Gestalt (The way in which your body language shows feelings in the current 'Here and Now').
I aim to work in a collaborative way to enable you to feel empowered so that when you leave therapy, you can walk away with a greater understanding of your own thought processing/feelings, increased self-awareness, a greater perspective on the future and a toolkit of coping strategies to assist in future challenges. I work with people of all ages, walks of life and backgrounds. I work in a warm, down to earth, conversational way. I respect the individuality of each person and their unique life experiences.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered, qualified and experienced counsellor with 7+ years of training/practicing. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) which ensures that I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice. It ensures that I practice safely and ethically with every client. I regularly attend supervision to review my work and ensure that I continue to work safely.
I have worked with a range of clients with an array of issues from the youngest age of 6+ years old. I have been working with adolescents, who were dealing with a range of issues from depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal thoughts including children who were deemed vulnerable and challenging within an agency setting. This included liaising with schools, social workers, foster carers and referring when required to specialised training.
Alongside my private practice, I currently work as a Therapist in a Youth Centre for Adolescents aged 9-25 years dealing with children from all walks of life. A lot of my work in this area involves Play Therapy to engage in the therapeutic process and enable/assist the children to express their feelings and work with their emotions.
