Polly Penrose BA, M.Sc. PGCE, Dip. Counselling, MBACP
I offer a warm, understanding and non-judgemental approach in a calm, confidential environment, where you will be valued as an individual and listened to thoughtfully and sensitively, to whatever you want to talk about.
I see my role as supporting and enabling you, as we work together in collaboration. I can help you to explore your thoughts and feelings and clarify your situation; to understand yourself better and develop in a way that suits you, empowering you to manage your difficulties and make the changes in your life that you want to make.
I have experience of working with a broad range of client issues (see Areas of Counselling, below) and also have a specialism in post-natal depression. I offer a free half-hour try-out session where we can chat about how I work; for you to ask any questions about the counselling and see if I'm what you're looking for.
I am a trained, professional and experienced Integrative counsellor: essentially a Person-centred practitioner, I can also flexibly draw on other ways of working, tailored to your needs, such as Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness, Creative approaches, or CBT.
Originally from an Arts Education background, I bring extensive experience of working with people of different ages and cultures; in-depth experience too of relationships and workplace challenges.
I enjoy travel, reading, crafts, vintage and music.
I found Polly to be an excellent counsellor. She listened to me and I felt like she really cared about my thoughts and feelings.
I’m coping a lot better now with less anxiety than before.
Polly showed me compassionate understanding and helped me gain insight into my problems. I can’t thank her enough for what she did for me.
I’m able to listen to my own needs much more and take more control of my life.
Polly is a great listener. She helped me work through issues and get through a dark place. Her help was invaluable.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
