About me

Welcome to my profile

Hi my name is Phil.

I am an experienced therapist and welcome your enquiry.

Stress, anxiety, worry, fear, sadness, confidence/self esteem, depression, grief/loss, anger/conflict, relationship problems can devastate your usual ability to cope and impacting aspect of your life. Emotional turmoil can be overwhelming, exhausting, leaving you feeling lonely, isolated & scared.

Need someone independent to talk with and listen to you to help you understand your thoughts and feelings? I have two private practices one in Evesham and also in Cheltenham and can offer appointments during the daytime and evenings between 9:00 a.m & 8:30 p.m

I work with:

Adults

Children & Young Adults

Couples

I am a qualified Counsellor & registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). At the heart of my practice is the understanding that our relationship is the key component for successful therapeutic outcomes.  With my therapeutic skills and my natural way of being, I will help you find peace and calmness to your current difficulties and a positive way forward in life.

How can counselling help?

Whilst many of us have supportive family and friends who can help with difficulties we face, at times, the closeness of these relationships can detract from our personal journey of growth and discovery. Whilst I appreciate that the thought of counselling may be a difficult step, we will walk the journey together. Offering a neutral perspective throughout sessions, we will explore any issues you wish to share. Providing a therapeutic relationship with honesty and empathy, we will explore any issue within a non-judgmental and confidential space at a pace which enables thorough reflection and scope for change.

What to expect in the first session?

Our first session will give you the opportunity to talk through your current difficulties.  I appreciate a first session can be a little daunting.  I will listen and support you through this and I will advise on the type of therapy that I would initially start with and how I propose we can work together.  I do understand though that whilst some people will enter into a series of sessions, some clients may only want a one-off session to explore some of their difficulties initially.

This initial session will also give us an opportunity to decide together whether I am the most suitable therapist to support you.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
