About me
I am a very experienced psychoanalytic psychotherapist and I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy which is one of the main registration bodies for psychotherapists practising in Britain.
I have worked for over twelve years as a qualified psychotherapist providing both short and long term psychotherapy to adults. I am currently working in the NHS as a Principal Adult Psychotherapist and I also have a small private practice.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed my training with the Arbours Association of Psychotherapists in 2005.
I am also an Associate Member of the Institute of Group Analysis and have a Post Graduate Certificate in Group Analytic Studies from the IGA and Birkbeck University. (2013)
I have a PG Diploma in Management Studies.
I have worked for over sixteen years as a qualified psychotherapist working with individuals and groups and I have worked in a range of mental health settings for more than twenty five years including statutory and voluntary settings such as residential therapeutic communities.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
