Hello, I'm Pete, I would firstly like to thank you for taking a moment of your valuable time to look at my profile, I really do appreciate it! I believe making the right connections in our lives are so important, whether it is with others, or reconnecting to ourselves if we are feeling disconnected from the world outside, or with our world inside. Even the connection between you and your future counsellor is very important, having the courage and strength to initially reach out and look for a counsellor and then make contact, I really do admire you for that, whether that is me or whichever counsellor you choose. I use a person-centred approach within my counselling practice, this is where the client is expert of what is going on for them at this present moment in time. I offer a non-judgemental, kind and gentle approach to my clients within a confidential, safe and trusting space for you to explore thoughts, feelings and emotions that you are going through. With no pressure to you, as the client you talk about and explore as much or as little as you feel you are comfortable sharing.
Training, qualifications & experience
As I previously said, connections are very important to me, and I believe that my life experience and the careers I have done in my life have led me to a career in counselling. My previous careers have all been about connections, from my fellow staff members, to the public. Further to this, before becoming a counsellor I already had a background in helping people from all different walks of life. A diverse range of people from a different country, language, colour, culture, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability and learning difficulties. I have helped people to overcome their fears, anxieties, and nerves to achieve goals they never thought they would. Fast forward till now, as a fully qualified counsellor, over the last few years through my specialist training I have had experience with counselling people that have had their lives affected by addiction, brain injury, cancer and general life issues that affect people's everyday lives. I have a level 5 Foundation degree in Person-centred counselling, and I am currently working on a level 6 Bachelor of Science degree in Person-centred counselling.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
