About me

DURING COVID -19 PANDEMIC I am working by telephone, Skype, Facetime, Whatsapp, Zoom or Email. I guarantee an improved situation in couple, single or family relationships, depression, anger management, self-esteem, abusive relationships, parenting difficulties, self-harm (incl eating disorders)?

I can in future work from my Knutsford (Bucklow Hill) home-office, your home or an arranged office near you.

I suggest discussing, initially by phone or Email, followed by a first consultation which is without charge if you consider the session indicates my methodology may not help you.

I am a senior professional with considerable training and experIence.
MA in Counselling and  BACP member.
I attend numerous courses and had extensive experience in all the problem areas I deal with.  I am also a qualified Mediator so can also call on this experience in my counselling practice.

I like to think I can help anyone: couple, family, individual to move forwards from a stuck or difficult personal or relationship situation.

I am additionally trained and  qualified  in Email and telephone counselling as well as financial matters.

Internet relational issues are also part of my knowledge base.

I have experience in working with all kinds of problems. I have trained both Internationally and in the UK and my practical experience includes many issues that face individuals, couples or families. As well as working with Relate, College students and in Mediation I have also qualifications and experience in financial matters as well as experience working with Samaritans.

In my integrated technical approach we look at your issues systemically (Questions and feedback) and psychodynamically (issues from the past). My toolbox includes approaches using emotional therapy, narrative therapy and where appropriate I also use CBT  methodology.

° This means much of the approach is looking together at how you see your difficulties and discussing them in a way which can help to make change happen.

° Many issues influence relationships and commonly communication needs to be improved or re-established.

° I also introduce methods which help you to identify where the problems are coming from and assist you to find solutions.

° We may also look at your family of origin and how that may have influenced you.

° It means you have to be prepared to take measures which we would discuss and which you would feel comfortable to put into action.

° It does NOT mean you just talk from a sofa.

° If you are having family difficulties I hope to talk with all members of the family together, but always as appropriate, and in discussion with you I may work alternatively together and individually.

° Each person, couple or family come with their individual problem/s and I have experience of working with one or several of the following problem areas:

communication difficulties; past relationships, separation or divorce;  affairs; forming friendships; children; family matters, parenting, loss or mourning, cultural or religious, abuse- physical or mental - past or present; alcohol or drug issues; internet or texting; issues of control.

All is open to discussion and I always take your ideas into consideration.

So often you may think a situation is how you see it and yet there are hidden or difficult issues which can only be aired in a neutral environment. Then and only then can all parties see with the help of a neutral person to keep the balance how things have got to where they have and how this can be changed.

I like to believe you will feel comfortable with me as your counsellor so please call me to enable you to get a feel from that discussion whether you may like to come for a first session of counselling. This first session is commitment-free to ensure you are satisfied I will be able to help you.

This will vary according to complexity but it can be as few as two or three but can also require up to ten or fifteen. It can be handled

  •    FACE TO FACE or by
  •    TELEPHONE/Skype or by
  •    Email

Or a combination.

Depending on tasks, urgency, or need the frequency can be from weekly to monthly according to your need.

I work from my home Cheshire office or in your home or an agreed location suitable for you.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
