About me

After more than 25 years working as a practitioner in specialist mental health services in the NHS (the last ten years as a Consultant Psychological Practitioner) I am now developing an independent therapy, supervision and case consultation practice. I offer regular sessions in Newbury (Berkshire) and East Kent and may be able to offer sessions in South West London. I aim to provide a discrete, respectful and truly individualised service to individuals, couples and families as well as offering clinical supervision and case consultation to a range of psychological practitioners.

Training, qualifications & experience

In addition to formal qualifications in Dramatherapy (Institute of Dramatherapy/Roehampton Institute 1992) and Forensic Psychotherapy (Portman & Tavistock NHS Trust 1996), I have also undertaken numerous short courses and multi-disciplinary training events in Systemic Psychotherapy (I.F.T. and Kent Association of Family Therapy) and '3rd Generation' CBT interventions (University of Surrey/Roehampton University)

In addition to my clinical work I have been a Senior Lecturer in the Psychology Department of Roehampton University since 1994 and have published a number of articles and conference presentations in national and international journals, as well as a co-edited book on the subject of creative approaches to working with destructiveness.

I have also been engaged as an Education Assessor and Fitness to Practice Panel Member for  Health and Care Professions Council (2007-2012)

Further information

My aim in any therapeutic journey is to integrate the learning I have gained from all the courageous, witty, remarkable human beings I have worked with over the years into an individualised approach that respects and utilises the beliefs and values of each individual, couple or family who is seeking help for their distress. As we negotiate that journey together I hope to promote an acknowledgement of past events, realistic optimism for the future and a commitment to making positive changes in the present.

Please follow the link to my personal website for more details about the way I work.
