I specialise in offering parenting advice, including positive parenting ideas within counselling and therapy. I also work with separated parents who wish to co-parent more effectively and with families who are all adults who wish to improve their relationships.
As the saying goes 'kids don't come with instructions'. Often parents feel uncertain about the best way to parent in the 21st Century. There is a lot of information which can create confusion. And yet there is also very good evidence to show what works in the modern day parenting of children and teenagers.
I offer practical advice to parents / carers for dealing with childhood issues and problems in adolescence. The first appointment is a consultation. Sometimes a one-off session is enough. Sometimes, we agree to work for a number of sessions (on average 3 - 6 sessions).
I provide a safe and confidential place to explore issues which affect the way you feel about yourself and your relationships.
As a qualified Family Therapist, I also offer family therapy. In these sessions I see parents and children together.
The sessions allow you a space to explore and reflect upon issues, in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked for many years in the NHS offering positive parenting classes, parenting advice as well as family therapy.
In some situations I will offer NVR (Non-violent resistance) therapy where there are more complex relationship issues between parent and child / young person.
I hold a degree in Social Science (1987) and a Masters degree in Systemic Family Therapy gained at the Institute of Family Therapy (IFT) in 2002. I also hold a post-graduate diploma in Systemic Training & Supervision (2008).

My aim is to work with you to find solutions to family problems. However, I also take care to find strengths and to notice things that people are already doing well, but which may not have noticed due to the stress of managing the problem.
I specialise in working with parents who encounter problems with their children in all stages of childhood.
- under 5's or pre-school children
