Hello, I'm Penny.
I can offer you a therapeutic relationship and the chance to look at your issues in a supportive, collaborative way. In sessions, I listen, encourage curiosity and compassion and am hopeful that you will heal and grow as a unique and special person. I can help you find your voice and take control of your life.
I"m a fully trained and experienced integrative counsellor, keen to know you as an individual and able to adapt the counselling process to meet your specific needs. This may involve looking back at your past relationships or family history as well as what is happening at the moment. I also offer various strategies or tools to help you understand or cope more effectively with what is happening.
Currently, I work mainly online with adults using Zoom but I can also offer face to face counselling if this is something you want. I am happy to discuss what suits you best. Depending on how you want to work with me, we may meet over a period of weeks or months.
It takes courage to come to counselling but I know from my own experience it helps to talk to someone who doesn’t judge. My clients tell me I’m a good listener, empathetic and provide a safe space to explore. I’ve made a positive difference in many of their lives.
I've always believed everyone has the potential to flourish and it's a privilege to see this happen.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
