About me

"Penny has been a godsend and I will never let her go!! I have had a number of counsellors in the past, and I am so relieved to have found the right one...I would LOVE to recommend you.. in my opinion, everyone should have Penny in their lives"

Do you need a calm, welcoming, space away from the pressures of your everyday life? Somewhere to make sense of your feelings, thoughts and experiences?
I'll help you rediscover your strengths and abilities and maybe recognise and develop new ones when planning for your future.

These are a few of the issues I can help you with:

  • family & relationship difficulties
  • anxiety and depression
  • self confidence and self esteem
  • bereavement, grief and loss
  • work, employment and career concerns
  • impact of health conditions
  • understanding & managing anger
  • stress and its triggers and impact

As a fully qualified Integrative counsellor I adapt how I work to suit your needs. I have worked with the NHS, schools and local charities on both a long and short term basis.

I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical guidelines.

Counselling helped me explore and understand how my past has influenced the way I react to things that happen in my life now...Letting go of the past has helped me look to the future in a much more positive frame of mind. FB September 2015

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Testimonials:

"Counselling has been of massive value in my life to-date, more than I could have ever imagined.... I’m more aware of how I’m feeling and why I am feeling that way, which means I now have a choice of how I react. I’m more able to deal with situations which occur in my life in a positive manner, no longer becoming overwhelmed, or paralysed by fear and indecision. I have more energy, know what I need to do to look after myself, and am in general a much happier person. I am fully aware that I will face further challenges in my life, but now feel I will be able to manage these with the skills I have learnt in counselling." CN August 2016

"I already have recommended you to two people. I liked the space/environment in which you conduct your sessions,
your manner and personality and the way you conduct business. I felt very relaxed and comfortable in each of the
sessions I had with you, even when the sessions brought up strong emotions and physical reactions.....you’re a very professional individual whilst being empathetic towards your client" October 2015

" I have found this very helpful and ...it has changed my outlook for the future". June 2013

"Penny was a perceptive and intuitive listener......she helped me feel normal again" February 2012

"Thank you for your help and understanding" August 2010

"I found counselling really helpful, it definitely helped me with self-knowledge which I found very interesting and valuable and my stress levels improved immeasurably from the start of my counselling to the end. It enabled me to be a nicer, calmer person to the people around me at a difficult time because I felt more sure and settled in myself" December 2015

"Thank you so much for all your help and support. I was in such a dark place when I first contacted you and you gave me hope and helped me see that there was a future" February 2016
