Penny Amerena MA Integrative Psychotherapy, MBACP(Accredited)
I'm a warm and approachable experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. I use an integrative approach which means my training helps me adapt the way I work, finding the most helpful approach to support you to meet your goals. I have more than 10 years' experience helping people find a better way forward so I'm used to addressing a range of issues whether you
- want to overcome anxiety and/or depression
- improve your relationships
- think your past might be affecting you in the present or
- want to develop coping strategies for specific difficulties.
I'm part of an established practice of experienced talking therapists at Re...root. Re...root provides professional support to its team so we can help our clients in the best way possible. Re...root is in central Richmond, just off the High Street, I see adult individuals and young people, but we also have children, couples and family therapists on the team. There's more information on our website at www.re-root.com.
A bit more about the way I work:
I've helped people work towards personal goals including reducing anxiety, stress and depression, improving relationships at home and at work, building self-esteem, developing personal strengths, building assertiveness skills, reducing, work stress, finding work/life balance, addressing anger issues, work stress, trauma and chronic illness and pain.
I offer short term focused and longer term more in-depth work depending on what you feel you need. I'm a registered provider of counselling and psychotherapy for Healthcare Insurance companies including, Aviva, Bupa, Pru Health, WPA and Cigna.
In addition I'm a qualified experienced supervisor so I can work with you if you are a trainee requiring supervision for your placements or if you are a qualified therapist seeking ongoing supervision for your work.

Sometimes people worry about getting locked into counselling with someone that doesn't feel right for them. I arrange an initial session to find out about the issues you bring and how I might be able to help, after which we can choose to set up further appointments if starting therapy does feel right.
