About me

The therapy I offer is flexible and bespoke: designed to suit your needs at the present time. This means we work together to help you with your priorities and concerns.

Are you looking to clear your head, to have peace of mind and greater confidence or to have a confidential and safe place to express what's going on for you and work out how to make life better? These are things we can work on side by side.

Are you grieving or grappling with changes in your life? It's good to have an impartial, kind and respectful listening ear, a sounding board to guide you as I help you work out what it all means and what, if anything, needs to be done.

Relationships often confuse or hurt us, whether they are with loved ones, family or someone at work. Beginnings, endings, change - we are affected by all these things and when ordinary issues mount up or some crisis hits us, anyone can need an unbiased and confidential person to help them survive and thrive again.

Are you feeling burdened with loneliness, regret, loss, shame, a change in physical health that affects your self-esteem?Therapy can really help with any of these things. No trouble is too big or too small.

Therapy is about helping you find strength and resources you might not realise you've got!
Whatever you're looking for, you can find the resilience and energy you need to begin refreshing and revitalising your life.

Therapy with me, Penny, is offered face to face, by telephone or online.
I offer therapy to individuals from age 16 upwards, couples and small groups such as work teams. How do I work? Here are some modalities you might have heard of: Person Centred, Transactional Analysis , Life Orientations, Gestalt, Hypnotherapy and Psychodynamic work. Not sure? - just get in touch, I'm happy to answer your questions.

My counselling room is discreet as well as comfortable, with wheelchair access and private parking available. It is on a main bus route and there's easy access to the M6, M62, M56, A580 routes to Manchester, Liverpool, Wigan, Chester, Warrington and nearby towns such as Altrincham and Leigh.

I'm Accredited and Registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy so I work carefully within their Ethical Code of Practice. I have nearly 20 years working in NHS settings and years of experience working with Employee Assistance Programmes [Occupational Health] as well as in Private Practice.

Please feel comfortable phoning, texting or emailing me even for a telephone chat to see if therapy is what you want just now.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
