About me
Most people experience times when they feel low and worried, or sense aspects of their life are beyond their control and not as they would wish. Life can sometimes feel like we're battling through stormy waters, struggling to make progress, or travelling in directions that simply don't feel comfortable.
In the face of constant demands on your attention, it can be easy to forget you are a unique person, with your own talents, aspirations and needs. However your happiness depends not on events, but on learning to sail the tides of the mind.
Counselling offers time and space to explore your thoughts and feelings around any difficulty or distress you may be experiencing, helping you to gain clarity about your situation and find more positive ways of responding to life.
As an experienced counsellor, I help people understand their reactions to life situations and events, reducing anxiety and distress, and increasing self worth and personal independence. I work with a variety of concerns, specialising in carer's support, bereavement, relationship difficulties affecting individuals (intergenerational or current) and workplace/career challenges.
In order to provide the greatest flexibility to clients and keep session fees down, I work solely online offering counselling either by telephone or online via Zoom.
Please take a look at my website for more information about my practice and how I work. Or contact me now by email or telephone to find out more about how counselling can help.

Experience
In addition to my private practice, I am a volunteer counsellor at St Barnabas Hospice in Worthing, working with patient's family/friends pre and post bereavement. I previously worked for 3 years as a Counselling Assessor with Carers Support West Sussex, where I also volunteered as a counsellor for 6 years, prior to the closure of their counselling service in March 2024. I have also been a volunteer supporter to participants on weekend residential courses for widows and divorcees, helping them to move forward and begin the next chapter of their lives.
Before I became a counsellor I worked as a manager in business, leading small and large teams. Although my role had a specific business focus, the wellbeing and support of each person in my team was important to me; especially during company re-organisations. By helping people identify and understand the things which were holding them back, they were enabled to change their situation and experience a more satisfying life. This insight, together with personal life event experiences, eventually led me to train as a counsellor.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society
This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations.
In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
