About me

I have been working with Children, Young People and Adults for over twenty years. I am a professional therapist and have been privileged to help many people including the very young and their families. I have worked in schools for over sixteen years and I am very experienced; including children with special needs. Some families find themselves in a crisis and will need support. It has been lovely to guide them into helping themselves and witnessing the fantastic changes that can be made.

I offer safe conditions for adults to talk and explore what is worrying them and help them find the right way forward. You will find a way of learning about yourself, building upon your self-awareness, self-worth and confidence. You will learn new ways of thinking and coping with things that will last a lifetime. Children will feel safe while being able to use therapeutic interventions such as the sand tray, puppets, arts and crafts and a range of other materials. They will be able to express feelings and emotions, learn new ways of coping while in supportive conditions.

I place high importance on the therapeutic relationship where you will be free to express yourself in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

I offer a flexible approach, professional and offer a confidential service.
I am very experienced in the field of therapy and have a calm, friendly manner.
I have been qualified since 2002 and have worked on a voluntary basis for several charities. I have been employed by several secondary schools, and worked freelance for employee assistance programmes/occupational health and other private insurance companies.
I can offer appointments on a Monday-Friday day and most evenings. Saturday is available upon request.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing)

EMDR is an excellent choice for clients seeking an alternative to talking therapies. EMDR can be used for different types of trauma, PTSD, abuse, depression, anxiety and many more problems. This therapy has an 8 phase approach and as your therapist I will guide through the process. Sessions are longer than normal and may last up to 90mins. It is preferable that sessions are at least weekly and you prepare some self-care and down time for after sessions. Please do not hesitate to contact me for further details.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
