About me

About me

Hello, my name is Paula, I am an integrative counsellor based in East Sussex. My sessions can be in English or Spanish.

“ONLINE & IN-PERSON” I am a qualified and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).I have experience in working with adults from various nationalities and cultures presenting a wide range of issues.

I am grounded in the humanistic approach which focus on the human potential for creativity, freedom, growth, autonomy, fulfilment and psychological health ,I look at the all of the experience considering the processes of thinking, feeling and behaviour.

I support my clients to gain greater insights about themselves looking at past and present relationships or experiences .I help them making a sense of their circumstances ,identifying choices and accompanying them in their own journey.

In parallel to my private practice I work with Carers Support West Sussex and I have also supported  parents  at Amaze or young adults at Autism Sussex.

I believe freedom is so important for us to grow and to develop our potential in life, for that reason I facilitate a confidential and safe space for you to feel free and explore what do you need from the world around you.

I embarked on this journey 5 years ago because I was interested in understanding how my mind works and also to overcome my own problems; I feel now in a completely different place, life has become so meaningful, and I know now what I am looking for but at the same time I am much more flexible to find always new options to reach my goals. I am using my experience, theoretical learning and counselling skills to support my clients in their journey.

How counselling can help

In my professional experience I noticed that counselling helps to those clients who have a need to talk about themselves and they are keen to question and discover what's going on for them.

My role as a counsellor is to be with my clients in their journey, not just listening to them but reflecting and making open questions about their experience and their story which brings something new for the client to explore ; whithin the process the client acknowledge different parts of their own self .

Talking through is not the only media to express your feelings ,we can incorporate drawings ,photos ,sand tray ,clay if those ways of expression help to communicate sensations and feelings that have no words .All this work can be quite creative and we can say the purpose of it is that you feel you own your experience ,you expand your authenticity in every aspect of your life and relations ,you can recognise more often "Yes that's me" and sometimes it's about finding acceptance, compassion and realizing that you actually like yourself.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
