Paul Took (MBACP), MA, BSc, Registered
My aim as a counsellor is to help and support you in the process of understanding your life experiences, your experience of relationships, and your aims and aspirations for the future. I place an emphasis on creating a warm and non judgemental relationship where you can freely express and explore your thoughts and feelings. By working together toward gaining insight and understanding, you can establish new perspectives and find new patterns of relating which are richer and more free. My training is in integrative counselling which means that I approach and understand issues with you from a range of theoretical backgrounds. In this way it is possible to adapt our work to find the approach that is best placed to support you.
I aim to work in an open and transparent way that places you as client at the centre of the work and acknowledges and builds on the strengths that you bring to counselling.
Since completing my postgraduate counselling training in 2011 I have been employed as a counsellor in the education sector. Through this work I have gained particular experience and expertise in supporting young people from a range of backgrounds.
I previously worked for a number of years in the NHS and charity sectors.
