About me

My name is Paul and I am here to help you understand how you think, feel and act. So you can make the positive changes in your life that you've been thinking about and hoping for. I am a professionally qualified, BACP-accredited and registered counsellor with 10 years’ experience. I can help with a range of problems and issues - contact me to arrange a session and start working on change.

Sessions are usually face to face, weekly for 50 minutes. In certain circumsances I work over the phone. However, I find that face to face sessions are most beneficial to clients, so this is recommended wherever possible.

Your work will centre around your development of awareness, and this is a process that I will support you with - giving the encouragement, learning space for you to acquire the insight and skills you need to change or make new choices. I offer short term therapy if appropriate, and also can provide longer term therapy, depending on the complexity of your situation and what you want from the work we do together.

When I work with you as your counsellor, I will provide you with a confidential and ethical space to talk about your problem or issue without judgement. I am an accredited therapist with several years experience in mental health settings, however I am also trained in EMDR, Gestalt therapy, Mindfulness, and Hypnosis.

Contact me with your requirement and aims, and explore how working together can help you with the difficulties you face today.

The first session will involve us assessing your situation, outlining your needs and taking some basic information before we proceed with therapy sessions. You will have the opportunity to ask me questions about how therapy with me works, and what can be achieved in your case. If it arises that counselling is not suitable for you or your situation, I will assist you in taking the next steps to find what you need. This session is charged at the normal rate.

I am also a qualified counselling supervisor and provide integrative/humanistic counselling supervision. I can also offer process/systemic and learning cycle approaches to supervision for counsellors and professionals from other disciplines and fields of work. Contact me to discuss how we can support your well-being at work whilst enhancing your reflection and development in your ethical and professional practice.

IN A CRISIS? If you are experiencing severe distress, and are at risk right now of hurting yourself, unfortunately I am unable to support you outside of office hours, or offer crisis support.

Call 111 for urgent advice from an NHS professional or 999 if you are in immediate risk of harm, or need urgent attention. You can also go to Accident and Emergency if you are at risk and without support.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
